Matáv brings Bobby McFerrin to Hungary
Budapest, January 27, 2004
Bobby McFerrin will appear in Hungary for the first time on May 24, 2004 in the Erkel Theatre. The world-famous jazz singer and conductor will conduct the Matáv Symphony Orchestra in his Budapest performance, supported by Matáv.
20 million CDs of Bobby McFerrin have been sold all over
the world, and he has been awarded the Grammy prize ten times. During the past
decade Bobby McFerrin has regularly worked with Chick Corea and the Vienna
Philharmonic Orchestra. In the first part of his Hungarian debut concert Bobby
McFerrin will conduct the Matáv Symphony Orchestra, and also sing the cello solo
part of Vivaldi’s G minor concerto. In the second part of the concert he will
perform a cappella improvisations as a jazz singer.
The concert - which is
expected to be a unique music event - will be held with the support of Matáv,
continuing the tradition of the successful jazz galas of Matáv. In the past such
outstanding jazz musicians as Chick Corea, Jan Garbarek, Pat Metheny, Al
Jarreau, Jack DeJohnette and John Patitucci have performed in
Hungary.
