No telephone tax, 70% VAT refund

Budapest, April 6, 2004

Yesterday Parliament took decision on the telephone bill: it rejected the new tax and upheld the 70% VAT refund, writes portfolio.hu.

As is known, currently 70% of the VAT of the telephone bill can be claimed back, which government last year explained with the use of the phone for private calls. This year further restrictions were planned: the ideas ranged from 3000 HUF tax on each direct line to various taxes on private calls. Yesterday Parliament voted for leaving things unchanged.
