102 000 lines suitable for ADSL

Budapest, September 18, 2003

From a technical point of view, there are no obstacles to having 100.000 ADSL subscribers this year; this was announced by Matáv Network Management Directorate in early September. At present, 102 000 lines suitable for broadband Internet could be connected in 106 towns and villages of Hungary. The work is proceeding in line with the plan, there is even some over-performance. ADSL provisioning activities for 2003 have not yet been completed; the colleagues at the Network Management Directorate will create the technical conditions for connecting another 30 000 lines by the end of the year.
