Decrease is slowing down in the fixed line market

Budapest, October 10, 2003

The number of fixed main lines has continued to fall in Hungary, according to the fixed line flash report of August issued by HIF (the Communications Authority). Nevertheless, the pace of decrease shows a tendency of slow-down. During the past 12 months the number of fixed lines decreased by 2.2 percent while the amount of call seconds initiated from wired network is practically stagnating. The ratio of ISDN main lines increased by 0.06 percent compared to the previous month, and reached 16.41 percent. At 72 percent, the ratio of telephone penetration in the households remained unchanged compared to the previous month.
