The number of fixed-line phones increased in September

According to data provided by the Communications Authority in September the number of connected main lines increased to reach 3,611,550. This means that in September connection of new main lines was 1,700 higher than in the previous month.
As a result of this growth the main line penetration per 100 inhabitants rose from 35.67 to 35.69. The average total duration of calls originated per main line increased from 211.7 minutes in the previous month to 229.2 minutes. The average duration of calls was 2.88 minutes in August and 2.87 minutes in September. In September 2003 the average duration of calls originated from a main line was about the same as in the previous month, but more calls were made. The main line penetration of households remained at the level of the previous month at 72%.
