19th Matáv Telephone Card Fair on November 15-16, 2003
Budapest, November 9, 2003
On November 15-16, visitors will be able to admire telephone card collections of nearly 40 exhibitors. The “star” of the 19th Card Fair will almost certainly be the card series featuring famous personalities of popular music. These cards have a face value of HUF 500 and participate in a lottery where valuable prizes (an electric bicycle, CDs and concert tickets) can be won at the drawings to be held weekly till December 18, 2003.
For
this event, Matáv has prepared more than 50 new cards featuring both
popular science topics and motifs that are interesting for the
collectors.
One of the interesting cards is the telephone card issued on the 85th
anniversary of the Hungarian Museum of Military History that functions
also as an entrance card ensuring a free visit to the Museum. There are
new items in the card series on Hungarian cartoons: the plastic cards
are decorated with scenes from the films Macskafogó [Cat Catcher] and
Gusztáv, while chess fans can buy a card puzzle showing the Philidor
strategy. Visitors can get a special Barangoló [Rambler] card decorated
with their digital photo made on the spot.
The programs of the two-day Card Fair include a card auction and a
raffle; the participants can test their knowledge, skills and luck in
the gambling-house equipped with roulette, black jack and quiz tables
where the tokens for bidding can be multiplied. The children of the
visiting families can find entertainment in the craft corner where they
can make presents for their parents and themselves.
Not only cards but public payphones develop, too; card fair visitors
can test the ADSL based multimedia terminal, use their telephone cards
for surfing on the net, send an SMS from public cardphones or buy a
Coke from a vending machine that also accepts telephone cards.
