Matáv donation to the Miskolc Hospital

Budapest, March 28, 2003

Tibor Kenesei, Head of the Technical Services Directorate of Matáv in Miskolc yesterday presented a patient monitor worth HUF 1,600,000 to the Premature Infant Department of the County Hospital. Matáv, as a responsible corporate citizen, regards it as extremely important to support with its donations the health and welfare organizations that need help, thus expressing its sensitivity to the problems in the society and community.

The Premature Infant Department of the Child Health Center in the Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County Hospital asked the Adra-Vitium Foundation to contribute to the procurement of a Dinamap Pro 1000 patient monitor. The Foundation turned to the Donation Board of Matáv asking for their support and the Board voted the request with special respect to the goal (treatment and prevention of child health problems).

The patient monitor controls and maintains the vital signs of infants in a serious condition. It measures oxygen, pulse, body temperature and blood pressure, and can store data for several days. It also operates with a battery in the case of a power cut.

Major donation areas of Matáv:

  • Curing, treatment and prevention of cardiovascular diseases
  • Health promotion and disease prevention programs, with special regard to malignant tumorous diseases
  • Treatment of communication problems (persons with speech defects and impaired hearing)
  • Sports activities for the disadvantaged
  • Cultural initiatives of disadvantaged settlements
  • Child health problems
  • Telephone helplines

Special attention is always given to child health problems and health promotion programs when deciding on donations. Last year donations were given among others to the following organizations dealing with child welfare and health problems:

  • Neurohabilitation Foundation for the Medical Treatment of Brain Damaged Babies
  • Temporary Mother and Child Care Shelter of the Foundation for the Protection of Mothers
