One and a Half Million Forints from Axelero to Children in Need

Budapest, June 13, 2003

Axelero Internet donated a gift worth one and a half million forints to the Hungarian Association of the International Children's Safety Service. As part of the support, the company has given a broadband Internet connection (BDSL) to the center of the organization in Budapest and to its computer club in Pécs, while the Service spent the remaining amount on the Children's Day in City Park, an event held this year for the 13th time.

The Internet gift of Axelero enabled the Service to replace the former dial-up Internet access in its center and in the computer club of Pécs by fast, broadband access. Compared to the volume of its tasks, the organization operates with a very small staff, so it is important for them to use the most advanced technology available. For the time being, the Company will be providing this facility to the International Children's Safety Service for a term of one year. In addition, the Internet service provider has contributed to the organization of Children's Day in City Park for the second time this year. It is estimated that about half a million people visited City Park, more than ever before, to enjoy the entertainment on seven stages and in 30 sites. As usual, Axelero put up its computer tent together with Hewlett-Packard in the Sunbathing Field, where socially disadvantaged children were able to surf the World Wide Web free all day.

"Without the power of publicity, the support of private individuals and enterprises we cannot help the needy, either. This is why I am happy if a company endorses our goals and helps us to achieve them. The Internet is very important for both the Association and the children, it is important for us so we can help them, and for them so they can discover a whole new world," said Péter Edvi, President of the International Children's Safety Service.

"Axelero Internet takes every opportunity to support adults and children in need who can be helped in their everyday lives by receiving an Internet connection. Having supported the Hungarian Hospice Foundation, the National Alliance of Associations for the Physically Disabled, and the Elementary School and Student Hostel for Motion Improvement, we have now supported the International Children's Safety Service so we can help the needy together with them," said László Drajkó, Chief Executive Officer of Axelero when the donation was presented. "For children the Internet represents the greatest opportunity for freedom, to discover the world, to be amazed at the unknown and to make everyday life more exciting. Unfortunately, they are the most vulnerable group, which is why we support organizations that help poor, disadvantaged or handicapped children," he added.

About the International Children's Safety Service
A voluntary organization, the Hungarian Association of the International Children's Safety Service was established in 1990 for the purpose of providing assistance to hungry, poor, socially disadvantaged, mentally handicapped children, orphans and other children in need. The first action of the Association was to provide assistance to the children in the orphanage of Csegőd in Romania: the horrible conditions in that orphanage were shown in the media worldwide and thus began the largest international assistance operation in the history of Eastern Europe up to that time. The Association gained publicity and soon they had thousands of requests for help coming to their office. Since that time they have been helping children in need by volunteer work, getting support from members and sponsors in the form of a membership fee, donations, expertise or manual work. The orphanage of Csegőd was followed by other recipients. In 1991 the Romanian Association was formed, since unfortunately, the Hungarian Association has enough work to do in Hungary, too.
