MATRIX certificate for Matáv
Budapest, January 31, 2003
On January 31, 2003 Elek Straub, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Matáv, formally received from MATRIX Vizsgáló, Ellenőrző és Tanúsító Kft. the document certifying the compliance of the company's universal and public access telecommunication services. Elek Straub said: "Matáv is intent on further expanding its role played in the Central European region, and obtaining this certificate is an important milestone on that road. In order to maintain its position, the company will have to make additional steps towards increasing its competitiveness and giving appropriate responses to the market challenges, too."
At
a time when the new framework of the Hungarian telecommunication market
is being shaped, quality assurance is identified as an indispensable
requirement and expectation. It is not purely a matter of protection of
the interests of the Hungarian consumers, but also an important element
of the country's accession to the European Union. The establishment of
the qualifying organizations in the field of telecommunication is part
of the market supervision concept corresponding to the European Union
practice. Presentation of the certificate of compliance of the services
is becoming an important requirement when applying for tenders in the
domestic market, and a sine qua non of international tenders (NATO, EU,
etc.). The presentation of appropriate quality guarantees is also an
essential condition for Hungarian companies aspiring to gain a foothold
in foreign markets.
Matáv was the first and only fixed service provider in the Hungarian
market to have MATRIX Kft. certify its universal and public access
telecommunication services in the autumn of 2002. As a result of the
audits, MATRIX issued the relevant certificate on December 16, 2002.
The certificate is valid till November 10, 2005 and the audits have to
be repeated every half year.
