Ceremony on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of Matáv’s privatization

On December 22, 2003 Matáv celebrated the tenth anniversary of its privatization. On this occasion a big ceremony was held at the Headquarters of Matáv at Krisztina krt.

It was attended by Mr. Kai-Uwe Ricke Chairman-CEO of Deutsche Telekom, Mr. Kálmán Kovács minister of IT and Communications and Mr. Endre Juhász minister without portfolio, responsible for EU integration. The former DT executives who used to work here, and the managers of Ameritech (later SBC) – the other privatization partner which has withdrawn in the meantime – also came to Hungary for the ceremony. At the reception the Hungarian Prime Minister awarded a high-ranking state prize to Mr. Helmut Ricke (father of Mr. Kai-Uwe Ricke) – who was the CEO of Deutsche Bundespost Telekom ten years ago – in recognition of his work which paved the way for the start of the privatization of Hungarian telecommunications.
