Telekom will provide free handset unlocking from October 20, before the deadline imposed by law, for its residential customers, and for that it will provide a solution that is available for the customers 24 hours a day, while avoiding waiting in line.

Both residential postpaid customers and customers with Domino card can indicate their needs for handset unlocking on the phone number 1414, in the automated menu, for which they only need to enter the IMEI number of their handset and a mobile telephone number, to which Telekom will send the model-dependent unlocking code and the link to information on the process of unlocking. If the necessary data are available, the customer will receive this SMS within one workday from the time of the submission of the need, but in any case within the shortest possible time.

Business customers of Telekom also have the option of requesting the free unlocking of their handsets from 20 October in the manner described above, on the phone numbers of 1400 and 1435, through the automated menu.

The company already sells most of the mobile phones in its offering without SIM lock, and this will not change in the future, either. In the case of handsets purchased earlier, the letters „SL” in the article number of the product indicate if the handset is not unlocked, so the above process only needs to be started in these cases. Customers can check the article number on the invoice received upon purchase.

It is important to know that in the case of iPhone 7 and earlier versions, for technical reasons the article number contains the letters SL in each case, but despite that, Telekom is already selling every iPhone model unlocked.
