The largest free-time sports event of the spring, the traditional Telekom Vivicittá Pro-City will be organised already for the 29th time by Budapest Sports Office ( BSI) in the capital city, in 30 days on April 13. This year’s program will be supplemented with several charity events.

The heats of the Budapest Telekom Vivicittá will be held on April 13 and will start again at the usual location on Margaret Island. The event attracts tens of thousands and this extreme level of popularity is due to the different distances, therefore all family members can find the challenge fitting their physical condition and readiness: Vivicittá (10 km), Midicittá (7 km), Minicittá and walking (3.2 km), Family Run (800m),  as well as the half-Marathon (21 km), requiring more serious preparation.

The ever growing popularity of the competition is clearly showing as – even if the Telekom Vivicittá will only be held in 30 days – the record number of participants to the half-Marathon is almost certain, as the number already exceeded the total registrations of last year. This distance enjoys huge popularity among foreigners: there are more than 500 participants on the start-list, who represent 41 countries. The oldest person registering is an 81 years old gentleman, while the oldest pre-registered woman is 79 years old.Following traditions, on the occasion of Telekom Vivicittá donations are also collected: this year UNICEF Hungary and the Gézengúz Foundation can be supported. Each of these organisations offer a good cause to all runners, participating at the largest springtime sports event to support.

As special point of interest, participant to Telekom Vivicittá include Kinga, who recovered from a cancerous disease and put her willpower to test by changing her lifestyle, having started a new life with sports! Kinga reacted to the idea introduced by Life.hu titled „Start a new life!” in December, 2013 and became one of those assisted by involving experts to make their dream come true: in her case by performing one of the running distances. Her training and stamina can encourage all those who also want to change their lifestyles, doing more sports and live more healthy.

The Vivicittá run was started in 1984 based on an Italian initiative: intending to make the dwellers of beautiful but congested historic cities aware of the values of their cities. Hence the name of the competition: „Vivicittá – Long live the city! Love the city!”  The movement was soon joined by metropolitan cities like New York, Lisbon, Brussels, Barcelona or Budapest. The free-time running competition is held in Hungary as the opening event of the spring season since 1986, the itinerary crossing the nicest parts of the capital city.

Telekom is a committed supporter of high quality family programs and the health-conscious lifestyle. Telekom supports the Hungarian runs of this internationally registered mass sports event already for the 17th time, as name sponsor.
