As a result of Magyar Telekom’s network development the 4G mobile internet service has become available at a major part of the holiday sites around Balaton too.

As a result of the expansion of the 4G network the super fast mobile internet has become accessible at 26 popular holiday sites at the Balaton since early August. Telekom’s fastest mobile network is available in 13 cities along the Northern coastline, for example Keszthely, Balatonfüred and Balatonalmádi and the benefits of the large bandwidth can also be enjoyed at 13 holiday sites along the Southern coastline, among others Fonyód, Balatonboglár and Balatonföldvár. Due to developments external residential coverage will reach close to 80 per cent in the Balaton area by the end of the summer.

Apart from the Balaton area the service provider connected several other areas to the 4G network in the past months, the largest of which are Mosonmagyaróvár, Salgótarján, Gyöngyös and Hajdúszoboszló. As a result of the expansion of the network Telekom’s 4G mobile internet service will be available at 219 settlements by the end of August and the national external residential coverage will reach 53.5%.*

4G, i.e. fourth generation mobile technology enables excellent quality online experiences outside our home too, and, through the new developments, even at the Balaton. Its tangible benefit for users is the much higher downloading speed of even 60 Mbit/s **, through which websites are loaded in no time, videos and even needle sharp full HD films can be viewed online and it also facilitates live video conferencing outside the office as well, as both image and voice are realistic in the areas covered by 4G. The use of the service in the area covered requires an adequate mobile internet package, as well as a 4G enabled device, about which more detailed information is available on the telekom.hu/4G site.

*External residential coverage %: percentage of the number of the residents living in the areas defined by the points considered to be covered externally according to the distribution map determined on the basis of the reported address of residents and the total number of residents. In the area specified the mobile internet service is available outside buildings.

**The speed the subscriber experiences depends on the availability of a device that supports the technology concerned and is adequately enabled, a tariff package and also on whether the network or the tariff package supports the given speed on the point concerned, as well as on radio and usage conditions. The speed the Service provider guarantees on the respective technologies is: 0 Mbit/s.
