Fault repair in Magyar Telekom’s wireline network

In the night of Thursday to Friday, 21 telecommunications trunk cables were damaged through stealing in District 19 in Budapest. Magyar Telekom’s technicians immediately started elimination of service loss caused by the damage and restoration of the functioning of subscriber lines.

Cable thieves damaged the wireline telecommunications network at the same site where similar cable stealing was detected in February 2008. As a result of the crime, wireline telecommunications services became temporarily inaccessible on more than 10 thousand subscriber lines in the Kispest district.

Magyar Telekom reported the case to the police, like in all similar cases. The amount of damage suffered by Magyar Telekom can be estimated after restoration.

Elimination of service loss caused by the crime in Kispest is being continuously carried out with great efforts, functioning of subscriber lines is being continuously restored. Full restoration is expected to take several days.

In accordance with the provisions of the General Contract Conditions, Magyar Telekom will credit the proportional share of the service monthly fee for the period of service loss on the next monthly bill of its customers.
