The three jazz aces Pat Metheny, Jack DeJohnette and John Patitucci will appear together in the concert to be sponsored jointly by Matáv and Westel in the Budapest Convention Centre on May 31, 2003. Apart from the single evening in Budapest, the three stars are not planning any more appearances in this constellation, so the audience of the Matáv-Westel Jazz Gala can expect a special and unique treat.

The Matáv Group attaches great importance to making available to Hungarian audiences as many world famous performers and exceptional productions as possible. Matáv and Westel have agreed to jointly sponsor yet another special music event. In fact, the three prominent artists will play together for the first time at the awards ceremony of the jazz talent quest competition organized by Bartók Radio this year for the fourth time. The three aces have never before appeared jointly in concert anywhere. John Patitucci will chair the jury of the international jazz competition which was invited for double bass and bass guitar players this year. The gala concert of the competition will also be the closing event of the jazz competition series so the organizers invited artists who appeared in the jazz gala concerts of the previous years. Pat Matheny was guest of the Attila Zoller Jazz Guitar Gala in 2000 and Jack DeJohnette appeared in last year's Gyula Kovács Jazz Drum Gala.
