Matáv has won a telecommunications and IT tender
Budapest, October 1, 1999
MATÁV and MATÁVCOM Kft. won the two closed public tenders that were invited in May 1999: one of the tenders called for bids on establishment of a 4-termination-point high-speed nationwide network and construction of a WAN in the area of DÉDÁSZ Rt., while the other tender was for delivery and installation of nearly 50 LAN elements (routers).
The contract was signed by Peter Nick and Dr. Christof Schulte,
Managing Director on behalf of GEDOS Hungária Kft., the IT subsidiary
of the German Bayernwerk group and by Zoltán Tankó, Director on behalf
of MATÁV, on October 1, 1999 in MATÁV headquarters.
This is the first time that MATÁV has won a telecommunications and IT
tender as a prime contractor. MATÁV with MATÁVCOM has managed to win a
long-term contract. Benefits of the winner's bid included: high
technical quality, comprehensive system guarantee, short deadline and
value-proportionate price.
The Munich-based Bayernwerk AG is one of Germany's leading energy
providers: it employs 17 600 people, its annual revenue is DEM 11
billion. Among the Hungarian energy providers Bayernwerk has shares in
