Matáv assistance to 131 local authorities
Budapest, December 1, 1999
Tens of thousands of Hungarian citizens were hit by floods early this summer. MATÁV has offered to cancel the September telephone bills up to a sum of HUF 100 000 for the local authorities affected by this natural catastrophe.
The heavy rains and the subsequent floods and high inland waters dealt
a serious blow to tens of thousands of Hungarian citizens. MATÁV, as a
responsible corporate citizen, cannot afford to remain a passive
onlooker of this critical situation.
It has decided to cancel the September telephone bills of the
municipality offices of 131 localities (in Zala, Somogy,
Komárom-Esztergom, Fejér, Tolna, Baranya, Bács-Kiskun,
Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok, Hajdú-Bihar, Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén, Heves, Nógrád
and Pest counties) up to a maximum amount of HUF 100 000 per authority.
