Magyar Telekom updates on the expected amount payable for the utility tax in 2013

Magyar Telekom (Reuters: MTEL.BU and Bloomberg: MTELEKOM HB), the leading Hungarian telecommunications service provider (“the Company”) announces that it has filed its tax report on the utility tax with the National Tax and Customs Administration of Hungary.

Based on the Company’s calculations, the report shows that Magyar Telekom has filed for 7.2 billion forint in respect of the utility tax for 2013. The tax expense and liability will be recognized in the first quarter of 2013, as the full annual tax liability is payable based on the taxable infrastructure in place on January 1, 2013. Payments will be made in two equal instalments in March and September this year.
