Magyar Telekom affiliate to expand its cable operations

Budapest – June 1, 2012 – Magyar Telekom (Reuters: MTEL.BU and Bloomberg: BÉT: MTELEKOM HB), the leading Hungarian telecommunications service provider announces that its affiliate, Vidanet Ltd. has closed the acquisition of Csorna, Kapuvár and their surrounding area cable businesses.

The acquired cable business currently provides TV, Internet and wholesale voice services via the latest cable infrastructure in a region of Western Hungary covering 20,800 households. It generates annual revenue of HUF 650mn, EBITDA of HUF275mn and has 11,400 cable TV, 4,500 broadband and 4,500 voice customer contracts.
